Half-Day Tragea Valley Private Tour
Explore the heart of inland Naxos on a private half-day tour through Tragea Valley, combining local crafts, ancient history, pottery, citron tasting, olive groves and traditional village life.
Discover the beauty, creativity and traditions of inland Naxos on a private half-day tour through the fertile Tragea Valley.
Your first stop is Galanado village, where you will enjoy a unique and fascinating demonstration at a fused glass art gallery and workshop. Dimitris and Krasimir will introduce you to their techniques and show how everyday materials can be transformed into creative works of art.
Next, you will visit the archaeological site of the Temple of Demeter. Located in a lush valley, this impressive restored ancient temple dating back to around 530 BC is one of the most remarkable monuments of Naxos. You will also have the chance to visit the nearby museum, where findings from the site are displayed.
The tour continues to Damalas, a charming traditional village in the Tragea Valley. There, you will visit the only remaining traditional pottery workshop of Naxos and enjoy a lively demonstration. You will discover local pottery techniques and learn about traditional pieces such as the “sfouni” and the “cup of justice”.
Your next stop is Chalki, a refined neoclassical village with a charming atmosphere. You can visit the traditional citron distillery and museum, taste local delicacies or olive oil, or enjoy a walk through the olive groves towards the Byzantine church of Saint George Diasoritis.
For a lunch or snack break, if you wish, a local tavern near Moni village is suggested. It is well known to Naxians and offers the chance to relax under a large oak tree, surrounded by nature, with beautiful views towards Mount Zas.
This private experience is ideal for travelers who want to discover Naxos beyond the beaches, through local workshops, ancient monuments, traditional villages and authentic inland landscapes.
