Off Tracks Private Tour
Explore the hidden and more adventurous side of Naxos on a private off-the-beaten-path tour with ancient temples, Byzantine paths, olive groves, springs, Mount Zas landscapes and Zas Cave.
The Off Tracks Private Tour is designed for active visitors who want to explore Naxos beyond the ordinary crowded routes. This is a private experience dedicated to travelers who love nature, history, hidden places and the authentic inland character of the island.
Your first stop is the Temple of Demeter, an impressive restored marble temple dating back to around 530 BC. This ancient monument is truly worth visiting, not only for the temple itself but also for the fascinating museum located in the same area.
The route continues through the rural area of Gyroulas Valley, before reaching the church of Saint George Adissarou, located at the foot of Apalyrou Castle. From there, you will walk along old Byzantine paths towards the Adissarou springs and an ancient olive tree said to date back thousands of years. It is a beautiful and interesting nature path, ideal for visitors who enjoy discovering the quieter side of Naxos.
Afterwards, the nature discovery continues in Chalki. There, you will walk through olive groves and visit the Byzantine church of Saint George Diasoritis, dating back to the 11th century AD.
The tour then crosses Filoti and continues towards Aria Spring, known for its crystal-clear drinkable water, before heading to Zas Cave. Located on the western side of Mount Zas, at an altitude of approximately 600 meters, the cave is one of the most impressive natural landmarks of Naxos and has unique geological interest. Its entrance leads to an imposing interior with stalactites and stalagmites, offering a memorable stop for nature and mountain lovers.
The final stop is a lunch break at a traditional tavern near Moni village, offering excellent food choices and beautiful views towards Mount Zas.
Pickup and drop-off are included.
